Bistro 489 Opening Information
Our Culinary Arts students are working diligently behind the scenes to prepare the Bistro to open.
This year, we are also placing an increased emphasis on classroom instruction alongside hands-on restaurant production. Our goal is to provide our students with a well-rounded learning experience that balances culinary knowledge with the real-world skills they develop through Bistro service.
Please note that Bistro services have not yet begun. We will reach out with our official opening date.
We appreciate your continued support of our students and the Medford Vocational Technical High School Culinary Arts Program. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to Bistro 489 for another great year of student-led hospitality!
Welcome to Bistro 489!
In the Bistro, chefs and student chefs collaborate in order to make dishes for customers. Proudly serving as the restaurant for the MVTHS Culinary Arts Program, the Bistro is a student-operated establishment that first opened its doors in the fall of 2017.
More About Us
At the Bistro students gain valuable firsthand experience in a variety of areas including safety, food handling, food preparation, institutional cooking, short order cooking, computer skills, and customer service. This experience not only enhances their skills for future careers but also opens doors to numerous job opportunities, such as line cook, prep cook, chef, baker, host/hostess, pastry chef, caterer, dining room manager, and restaurant manager.
